#30daysongchallenge A song that makes you want to fall in love

I can’t help but feel, at this point, the challenge was ambushed by a lovesick teenager. Today’s is a song that makes me want to fall in love, and tomorrow’s is a song that breaks my heart. Groan…

Thinking Out Loud is a perfect love song. That’s all I need to say.

#30daysongchallenge A song you like by an artist no longer living

I’m kind of cheating here. I am no Tammy Wynette fan, but I love this song and the link to her being an artist no longer living is just a way to get the song into the challenge.

Justified & Ancient is a classic. Its lyrics are inspired, but nonsense (they’re justified and they’re ancient and they drive an ice cream van). The original version is fab but I equally love the White Room Version.

#30daysongchallenge A song by a band you wish were still together

Whatever is my favourite Oasis song and Oasis are the band that I wish were still together. The Oasis from the first three albums, the fun, couldn’t give a shit, rock band, not the overblown produced band they eventually became.

I don’t actually think they should get back together. I think the moment for Oasis has gone. But weren’t they amazing?! I consider myself lucky to have been a teenager at just the right time to experience the whole Oasis bandwagon!

#30daysongchallenge A song that moves you forward

At first I planned to choose the Cha Cha Slide for this one as it does move you forward and then cha cha to the side. But then I thought this was stupid.

Instead I’ve gone for The Power Of Love by Huey Lewis And The News. It’s a song from one of my favourite movies which features by favourite quote of all time: “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads,” from Back To The Future.

The quote works on various levels. In the movie, on face value, it means the Delorean no longer needs roads as it can fly. On a deeper level, it actually means that the future is not planned and mapped out on a road – the future is what you make it.

Also, it is a great song to drive to and, therefore, moves me forward that way too.

#30daysongchallenge A song that has many meanings to you

Another really difficult challenge. A song with many meanings… I have struggled and so I’ve gone a bit leftfield with this.

Everywhere has some of the best lyrics (“‘Cos you’re everywhere to me and when I close my eyes it’s you I see”) and it was a song that was played at my brother’s wedding. But it also appeared in a hilarious scene in one of the American Pie films and so it also works as a mindless soundtrack song.

It is great!

#30daysongchallenge A song that makes you think about life

Today’s challenge is tricky as generally I don’t listen to music to make me think. I don’t listen to music to ‘lose myself in my thoughts’. I listen to music because I enjoy it and it makes me feel better. Very few songs have an impact on my emotionally.

I guess Time Of Your Life by Green Day does make me think about life. I remember being told that this song was played at someone’s funeral and every time it comes on it makes me think about that. I hope I have the time of my life.

#30daysongchallenge A song from the year you were born

This is a tricky one. I was born in 1979 and it was hardly a good year for music. The song that was Number One when I was born was the YMCA!!

I have chosen a song which was featured in a film in 1979 but didn’t actually become a chart hit until 1991. It counts.

I love the message behind the song. I always do try to look on the bright side of life no matter how hard it is to do.

#30daysongchallenge A song you’d sing a duet with someone on karaoke

This is the hardest challenge yet as I don’t do karaoke.

If I had to do karaoke I’d sing Breakfast At Tiffany’s by Deep Blue Something. I think I’m really good at singing this. But I’m probably not.

I love this song. I was always chuffed that I loved it when it was first released and that I was ahead of its time when it was re-released and went to Number One.
